Paul Wyler, born in Basel, Switzerland, he was a pioneer since 1896 in the development of the balance. “His aim was to improve its reliability and sturdiness and make his timekeepers available to a greater number of consumers.”

After two decades of work, in 1924, Paul Wyler and his brother Alfred founded their own brand. In 1927, Paul Wyler patented his ‘Incaflex’ invention and Incaflex would soon become famous in the watch world.

The word Incaflex involved a balance made from a single piece of metal, thus making it strong, while its resistance to shocks was guaranteed by two half-spiral symmetrical arms that were reversed and that were joined at the center of the circumference of the balance. This gave surprising flexibility to the balance, and a large degree of shock absorption.

Paul Wyler continued with more studies and developments in the watchmaking art, he received nine more patents for balances with flexible arms, watch cases made in two or three pieces, innovations in materials, a pressure automatism principle, and advances in water-resistance.

Lucio Binda, an Italian distributor and a true genius when it came to advertising and could be called a precursor of modern marketing. Lucio Binda created his own business in 1906 and years later formed a relationship with Wyler to create the brand Wyler-Vetta for the Italian market.

Binda “invented” the testimonial in 1934, when he put Wyler-Vetta watches on the entire national Italian soccer team. As another remarkable publicity feat, in 1956 when he had a Wyler-Vetta timepiece thrown from the top of the Eiffel Tower and had a neutral third party certify that it still worked. The same performance was repeated in Atlanta. Already beginning in 1953, the brand had its commercials on television – the first for a watch. The reputation of the brand and its sturdiness became legendary.

In 1993, after a difficult period during which the brand vacillated between the names ‘Vetta’, ‘Wyler Vetta’ and simply ‘Wyler’, Binda purchased the entire brand, giving it the name Wyler-Vetta. Then, in 2002, Binda began its grand re-launch and repositioning of this mythical name.

Today we are presenting a very unique timepiece, it is a Wyler-Vetta Incaflex Dynastar automatic wristwatch, also called “the compressor” for the solid case back design.

Dated from the mid 1960's, it is a self-wind watch, inside with an original Wyler movement caliber WH 231, 23 jewels, sweep-second, day/date indicator, Swiss made and signed “Wyler Incaflex Superior”.

Super cool 34.2mm tonneau shape case and solid case back and lug design, all in stainless steel. The crystal is in good condition. 

After 60 years, it still has (in good conditions) the original sunburst silver dial with two-tone hour mark applied and matching hands. The day/date indicator is located at 3. The dial is signed with the Wyler name, Incaflex and Dynawind as well.

This watch is coming with a vintage brown leather two-piece strap.

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men's watches typically measure between 29-36mm (some larger, some smaller) wide excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women's watches from the 1900s-1970s were also somewhat smaller than today’s offerings in many cases. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.

We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust light, when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.

The condition is pre-owned.
The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended.

-imperfections on the lugs
-unless stated that the strap is new, the leather is often quite old and may need replacing in the future
-metal bracelets may not include all of the links that the watch originally may have come with, but can be replaced with a bracelet or strap of your choosing

-missing stones (view photos, we will NEVER photoshop in a missing stone or piece)
-minor scratches or discoloration
-fading of plating
-fading of paint
