A Benrus 'Sky Chief' timepiece, crafted in stainless steel circa 1940. This round watch features its original black gilt dial with intricate chronograph sub-dials, accented by bold, luminous markers. The watch is encased in a classic stainless steel case with chamfered lugs and rectangular pushers , showcasing a blend of polished and brushed finishes. The case appears to be in its original, and unpolished condition.

Equipped with the legendary manual wind Valjoux caliber 72 movement, this Swiss-made watch includes a triple register chronogrpah designed for pilots. Interestingly, the Valjoux Caliber 72 movement can also be found in numerous other notable timepieces including the Heuer Carrera, and the Rolex Daytona. Known for being the watch that earned Benrus the title of the 'Official Watch of Famous Airlines' the Sky Chief was issued to pilots during the 1940's by TWA, NWA, KLM, and even Delta.. The manual winding mechanism adds a touch of retro charm for the discerning wearer.

In excellent condition, this watch comes fitted to a new leather strap and serviced by our in-house watchmaker. It is a testament to Benrus's renowned craftsmanship as an ingenous American watchmaker.
