A stunning antique Diamond and Pink sapphire lizard brooch.

This lizard is stacked with beautiful gemstones from the wonderful twinkling rose cut diamonds to the glorious rich pink sapphires running up the back and down the tail.

Well designed as a lizard it is crafted in 9ct yellow gold with a sterling silver front to highlight the stones.

Diamonds are mixed cuts, mostly rose cuts that sparkle beautifully in low light there is approx 0.90ct of diamonds in total, the pink sapphires are round cut with large tables and are a lovely deep pink hue, there are approx 2.5ct of sapphires adorning this adorable lizard.

Looks fabulous with any outfit, adorning a Lapel or fixing a scarf, this brooch really shines.

The Victorian era championed symbolism in jewellery and lizards were known to represent good fortune, regeneration and rebirth and love amongst other things.

Pink sapphire, originally discovered in the 1500s was considered a very rare stone until more recently in the 90s when larger deposits were discovered, it was a coveted gemstone prior to this.

Unmarked, tests as 9ct gold and sterling silver, early 20th century c1910s.

Condition:
Good used condition overall, signs of use and wear commensurate with age, overall patina, some small areas of tarnish.
