The Rolex Datejust is one of the most iconic and beloved Rolex watches ever made. The Sigma matte black "pie-pan" dial is an absolute favorite amongst collectors when discussing the Rolex Datejust, though it can be exceptionally elusive. Often talked about and rarely seen this matte black dial Rolex ref. 1601 Datejust is an excellent vintage example, ready and suited for any occasion. 

A Sigma dial is a Rolex dial named for the letters printed at the bottom of the dial at the 6 o'clock position. Most Rolex dials are commonly marked with “T Swiss T,” under the 6 o'clock marker, however, a Sigma dial is marked “σ T SWISS T σ.” This signifies the use of gold components within the dial.

CASE & BRACELET

The strong case retains thick, symmetrical lugs that show honest signs of honest use and minimal signs of previous polishing. The white gold fluted bezel has been gently polished in the past and exhibits honest signs of use while retaining its original definition and details. The watch comes supplied on a 2pv handmade leather strap.

DIAL & HANDS

The beautiful and genuinely uncommon matte black "pie pan" Sigma dial is in lovely vintage condition, showing gentle age present but with no notable damage present. The tritium lume plots display a mostly darker patina with lume degradation present thoughout the lume plots. The original tritium hands match the dial perfectly and display no degradation udner U.V. light inspection. The metallic date wheel is original with "open" 6's and 9's.
